Transfer students
1. Initial steps for transferring to the University of Oradea
The transfer student shall need the Letter of Acceptance to Studies issued by the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports. Below you can find the required documents, as stipulated in the 2010 Admissions Methodology, documents that need to be submitted to the International Relations Department.
If a candidate is eligible and the documentation is complete, the International Relations Department at the University of Oradea will forward the file for validation to the General Directorate of European Affairs and the Bologna Secretariat. After the validation of previous studies, the Directorate issues a Letter of Acceptance that the student needs in order to be enrolled and to get the student visa (if applicable).
Please note that the failure to obtain the Letter of Acceptance from the General Directorate of European Affairs and the Bologna Secretariat prevents the candidate from enrolling at the University of Oradea.
- Payment of the file procession fee
Before the file is processed, all candidates must pay a file processing fee of EUR 150, a fee requested by the University of Oradea. The processing file fee will be paid to the University’s bank account before the application is submitted and it covers the expenses for the process of the issuance of the acceptance letter. Please note that once the file processing fee is paid, it can not be reimbursed.
The fee can be sent by bank transfer only. According to the University of Oradea policy, we do not accept money sent by Western Union or by ordinary mail.

- Obtaining the Letter of Acceptance to Studies / Acknowledgement Certificate
Required documents for the EU, the EEA and the Swiss Confederation citizens
1. Application form for the issuance of the Certificate (download from here)
2. Legalized copy of the high-school diploma
3. Legalized copy of the graduate diploma and transcript of records – if applicable
4. Legalized copies of the transcripts of records from the university of origin translated into Romanian, English or French, 2 copies
5. Photocopies of the identification documents: passport – copies of the first four pages or another identification document.
6. Confirmation of payment for non-refundable processing file fee of Eur 150 into the Bank account of the University, according to HS 129/14.09.2009.
Required documents for the Non-EU and Third World countries

2. CV (dated, signed) – 1 copy
3. Diplomas attesting previous studies:
- Photocopies legalized by a notary public if the documents are issued in English, French, Italian or Spanish, 2 copies
- Legalized Romanian translations and photocopies of the original documents, if the original is issued in a language other than the ones mentioned above, 2 copies
4. Legalized Romanian, English or French copies of the transcripts of records from the university of origin, 2 copies
5. Birth certificate
- 2 photocopies
- Legalized translation into Romanian, English or French, 2 copies
6. Two Passport copies (other ID copies not accepted)
7. Medical Letter, in English or French, proving that the applicant does not suffer from contagious diseases or other illnesses incompatible with the future profession), 2 copies
8. Language Certificate issued for the language of teaching (except for candidates coming from countries where the official language is the language of teaching). The Language Certificate can be acquired at the University of Oradea when submitting the admission documents after previously being tested at the Faculty of Letters within the University of Oradea.
9. 2 passport size photos (3/4 cm)
10. Confirmation of payment for non-refundable processing file fee of Eur 150 into the Bank account of the University, according to HS 129/14.09.2009.
The deadline for submitting the files for the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance / Certificate of Acknowledgement is July 15, 2010! The files shall be submitted to the International Relations Department by regular mail and not by email.
2. Prerequisites for foreign students to pursue their partial or complete studies at the University of Oradea
The university of origin acknowledged by the Ministry of Education in the respective country is acknowledged by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sport IF supported by a written certificate issued by the Ministry of Education from the country of origin.
For studies carried out according to the European Credit Transfer System, a student can be enrolled provided that he has acquired a minimum number of credits, i.e. 30 credits for the current year of study and 50% of the credits for the courses from the previous year(s) of study.
The deadline requirements for submission of files and enrollment application forms shall be met.
The candidates are eligible to pursue their studies for the same study program covering the same duration.
The interruption of studies before applying at the University of Oradea should not exceed two years.
The candidates shall have good command of the language of teaching and submit a certificate attesting his/her language level of competence.
3. Acknowledgement of studies. Required documents
Candidates wishing to pursue their studies at the University of Oradea shall submit certain documents to validate their previous studies.
The EU, the EEA and the Swiss Confederation students will be enrolled according to the 2010 Admissions Methodology elaborated by the Department based on the University Admissions Methodology. In addition to the enrollment file, the candidate shall submit the original transcripts of records and syllabus from the higher education institution where the candidate has previously studied.
Third World countries students shall submit the enrollment file upon arrival.
Documents needed for enrollment
1. Letter of Acceptance issued by the General Directorate of European Affairs and the Bologna Secretariat at the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports.
2. Latest achieved diploma, original issue. Candidates for doctoral studies or for acknowledgement of partial studies have to enclose legalized copies of transcripts of records and syllabuses.
3. Translation of the latest achieved diploma legalized by a Romanian diplomatic mission.
4. Legalized translation of the Birth Certificate.
5. Medical certificate.
6. Passport copy with the study visa for Romania.
In addition to the above documents, the Department may request further documents if found necessary.
All candidates (EU, EEA, Swiss Confederation, Third World countries) shall submit the following additional documents to validate previous studies:
- Original and/or translated legalized copy of the transcript of records from the university of origin;
- Copy and legalized translation of the syllabus of the university where the candidate has previously studied;
- Original and legalized copy of the Diploma and transcript of records certified by the Romanian embassy/consulate for graduates with diploma;
- Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education from the country where the candidate has previously studied or issued by the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports attesting that the institution of origin is acknowledged. The University shall settle the academic level of studies pursued by the candidates and to verify the authenticity of the documents submitted by the candidates by means of direct contact with the higher education institution issuing the documents. The candidate shall provide contact information for the university. In order to settle the number of credits imposed by the Regulations on the European Credit Transfer System, syllabuses and study plans of the specializations will be corroborated. Each faculty will appoint a validation commission in charge with the procedure. The corroboration of the syllabus and study plan with the series to which the student has been transferred will provide the acknowledgement of the credits and will settle the exams the student will have to take further, according to the local study plan.
Deadlines:
EU, EEA and the Swiss Confederation students shall fill in and submit the written request to pursue their studies, in 2 copies, at the Department secretariat by September 15. The Department shall decide upon the acceptance at least 5 days before the beginning of the academic year.
Non-EU and Third World citizens will have to submit the documents at least 15 working days before the deadline mentioned in the Letter of Acceptance.
If the student fails to comply with the deadlines, the university may withdraw the offer to enroll them.
Students failing to pass all additional exams as settled by the validation commission or to acquire the minimum number of credits to enroll in the following year of study within two semesters will either repeat the activities of that year of study as a fee-paying student, or will be expelled.
Students may pursue their studies at the University of Oradea from 2nd year of study except for the last year of study.
4. Language of studies
a. Romanian. Candidates who do not speak Romanian language can apply for studies into Romanian provided they take a preparatory language course one year before enrollment. At the end of the preparatory year, the candidates will acquire a Romanian language certificate. In case the candidate already has knowledge of Romanian language, they can sit in for the Romanian language test at the Faculty of Letters which issues a certificate. Romanian language certificates will be accepted only from Romanian Universities accredited to issue such certificates.
b. English. Candidates choosing specializations in English language have to present one of the following documents: English certificate obtained before, proof that he/she graduated studies into English or an English certificate issued by the Faculty of Letters (University of Oradea).
