Admission 2010/2011

The University of Oradea comprises 18 faculties providing undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Romanian and in English. Courses offered in English are for undergraduate level in International Relations and European Studies specialization (bachelor, 3 years), Faculty of History -Geography and International Relations and in General Medicine (General Medicine, 6 years). The University of Oradea has implemented the Bologna education system since 2005.

Registration Schedule
There are two admission sessions: July and September.

July 2010:
March 1, 2010- July 1, 2010 – submission files for the acknowledgement of previous studies by the Ministry of Education
July 15-24, 2010 – registration process
July 25-28, 2010 – entrance exam
July 25-29, 2010 – final results

September 2010:
* this session is conditioned by the results of the July session.
September 06-17, 2010 – registration process
September 18-22, 2010 – entrance exam
September 19-25, 2010 – confirmations, enrollment.

1. Eligible candidates

- Candidates from European Union, European Economic Space and Switzerland
- Candidates from non-European Union countries.
- Candidates who have graduated a high-school or college accredited in their country and recognized by the Romanian Ministry of Education, Research, Youth and Sports.

2. Language of studies

a. Romanian. Candidates who do not speak Romanian language can apply for studies into Romanian provided they take a preparatory language course one year before enrollment. At the end of the preparatory year, the candidates will acquire a Romanian language certificate. In case the candidate already has knowledge of Romanian language, they can sit in for the Romanian language test at the Faculty of Letters which issues a certificate. Romanian language certificates will be accepted only from Romanian Universities accredited to issue such certificates.

b. English. Candidates choosing specializations in English language have to present one of the following documents: English certificate obtained before, proof that he/she graduated studies into English or an English certificate issued by the Faculty of Letters (University of Oradea).

The dates for the Language Examination for July session are:

- July 15, 2010 at 10 a.m English language examination

- July 16, 2010 at 10 a.m Romanian language examination

Fee for the exam is 200 RON (EUR 50)

3. Vacancies

Every year, the Senate of the University with the approval of the Ministry of Education decides on the number of available places. This number of available places is published on the University’s webpage.

4. Admission

Steps for admission:

  • Applying for the recognition of studies (Testimonial)

According to Law 316/2006, all the citizens of EU, SEE and Switzerland have access to all forms of education, in the same conditions as Romanians including tuition fees.

As of 15.06.2009, all citizens of the abovementioned countries will no longer need an acceptance letter, but a CERTIFICATE issued by the National Center of Recognition and Validation of Diplomas at the Romanian Ministry of Education. With this certificate, the candidates can be registered for admission at the University of Oradea.

The candidates who graduated in Romania no longer need an approval from the Ministry of Education.

The application file for the recognition of studies must be submitted to the International Relations Department/Office for Foreign Students at the University of Oradea. Files submitted by individual candidates are not processed by the Ministry of Education.

  • Payment of the file procession fee

Before the file is processed, all candidates must pay a file processing fee of EUR 150, a fee requested by the University of Oradea. The processing file fee will be paid to the University’s bank account before the application is submitted and it covers the expenses for the process of the issuance of the acceptance letter. Please note that once the file processing fee is paid, it can not be reimbursed.

The fee can be sent by bank transfer only. According to the University of Oradea policy, we do not accept money sent by Western Union or by ordinary mail.

  • Submission of the application file

Please find below all the documents required for the application file:

1. Application form for the University of Oradea (click here to download)

3. High-school Diploma – legalized copy
4. Bachelor degree and transcript of records (for graduate applicants) – legalized copy
5. Identification document (photocopy): Passport (first 4 pages) or other ID.
6. Declaration that the previous studies give you the right to follow university studies.
7. Confirmation of payment for non-refundable processing file fee of EUR 150

The documents in languages other than English, or French shall be translated into either English, or Romanian.

If the candidate is declared eligible and the file is complete, the International Relations Department forwards the documents to the Ministry of Education to issue the Certificate according to which the candidates can pursue their studies in Romania.

In case of non-recognition of the degree, the candidate cannot go on with his registration.

* Please note that the annual tuition fees, IRES Department ancillary fees and University incidental fees are set by the University each year and are subject to change. All amounts are shown in Euro.

* In addition to the Annual Tuition Fee noted above, students are required to submit payment for University incidental fees (which include campus fees and student society fees) and IRES ancillary fees (charged by the Department for services specific to our programs).
